The project aims to increase the economy and the tourism of the Pedemontana and Alto Friuli area,
thanks to the many sports practiced in the territory of a growing number of fans.
The local administration of Gemona del Friuli, taking advantage of the exclusive Sport campus, branch of the University of Udine, that offers a Bachelor of Sport Science (Undergraduate) and a Master of Sport Science (Postgraduate), which is unique in the region, promotes the project
“Gemona, the City of Sport Activities and Welfare”: an organic project who has found support in the Autonomous Region Friuli Venezia Giulia, the hospital no.3 from Alto Friuli (Azienda per i Servizi Sanitari n. 3 Alto Friuli), the provincial administration of Udine, the Mountain Comunities of Gemona’s Channel of Ferro-Val Canale and Carnia, and also other 17 municipalities that have joined the project. At this initiative the various local administrations and the Project manager Enzo Cainero have been working for a long time in order to revive the economy and the tourism of the territory.
It is a wide and vary offer that goes from archery to mountain bike and to orienteering on the plateau of Monte Prat, but also fencing and horseracing in San Daniele, canoeing, kayaking and sailing on the Cavazzo’s lake ( known also as the “Lake of the Three Towns”), rifle range in Tolmezzo, climbing in the gyms of Gemona, Osoppo, Villa Santina, Raveo, Verzegnis, Trasaghis, Cavazzo Carnico, athletics on the racetracks of Majano, Tolmezzo and Gemona, hang-gliding and paragliding in the skies of Artegna, Montenars, Bordano, Trasaghis, Gemona and Alto Friuli.
