Enzo Cainero

Enzo Cainero is the most important person in the Project “Gemona – City of the Sport activities and Welfare”. He is a business consultant in Udine and he is well known for his life long carrier as sports manager and organizer of great events. After practicing football activities in professional clubs, since early ‘60 he devoted himself to the management of the various clubs and to the organization of large events.

He has been the team manager at “Udinese Calcio” between 1980 and 1983, together with Zico, Edinho, Mauro, De Agostini &C., and then the president at “Associazione Pallacanestro Udinese”( Basketball Association of Udine), sponsorized by Fantoni and Emmezeta, which took part into the Championship of basketball in A1 and A2 series . He has also been the CEO of “VENEZIA CALCIO” in B and A Series until the end of the nineties.

Afterwards the management activities were strongly oriented to cycling thanks to the organization of the two “Settimane Tricolori”, in 2000 (for the first time in Italy) and in 2006. He had also organized the Italian Championship of Cyclocross and then he had participated as the co-organizer of the pit stops for “Giro d’Italia” that have touched the Friuli Venezia Giulia Region since 2003. Thanks to this initiative, Monte Zoncolan has become a landmark of world cycling.

From 2001 to 2004 he was the Chairman of the Italian Cycling for professinal. In 2003 he was the Project Manager of the Universiadi of Tarvisio and the organizer of the Test- match Rugby Italia vs. Sud-Africa held in Udine in 2009.
